Heesung Catalysts and Samsung Electronics Pioneer World’s First Photocatalyst Application
2023.02.16
Heesung Catalysts, in collaboration with Samsung Electronics’ SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) research team, has successfully developed a water-washable Ceramic Catalyst Filter (CCF) technology incorporating photocatalysts.
Breakthrough in Air Purification: CCF with Photocatalysts
The CCF filter utilizes a two-stage purification system:
[1] At the filter inlet, a ceramic-based porous air purification filter is coated with an inorganic membrane, which effectively removes fine dust.
[2] At the filter outlet, a photocatalyst coating eliminates harmful gases.
This innovative design significantly enhances dust collection capacity, achieving a fourfold increase compared to conventional high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters (from 5g/L to 20g/L).
Additionally, while traditional filters require replacement every 6 to 12 months, the CCF filter can be reused for up to 20 years with simple water washing, making it a highly sustainable solution.
