‘Cheomdan’ means ‘cutting-edge’ or ‘advanced technology,’ reflecting the production center’s role as a center for innovation in catalyst production and research. Designed to support climate change mitigation and carbon neutrality, the project began with land acquisition in 2021, followed by groundbreaking in April 2023, and was completed in approximately 18 months.

A High-Tech Hub for Sustainable Catalyst Production

Located on a 6,272-square-meter site adjacent to the Siwha plant, the new production center is equipped to produce a wide range of eco-friendly catalysts, including:

  • Chemical catalysts
  • Fuel reforming catalysts
  • Hydrogen electrochemical catalysts
  • Climate and environmental catalysts

Starting in 2025, Heesung Catalysts plans to further expand production capabilities for hydrogen and environmental catalysts, reinforcing its leadership in the energy transition and carbon reduction technologies.

Strengthening Global Leadership in Eco-Friendly Catalysts

The completion ceremony was attended by key executives from Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company, BASF ECMS (joint venture partner), and other industry partners, celebrating the successful completion of the production center and reaffirming their commitment to global climate initiatives through advanced catalyst technology.

As part of Vision 2030, Heesung Catalysts aims to expand its new business portfolio to over 50% by 2030, establishing itself as a leading provider of catalyst-based clean technology solutions for a carbon-neutral future.
