Heesung Catalysts Signs MOU with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for AEM Electrolysis System Development

Heesung Catalysts has been selected as a key participant in Ulsan City’s next-generation clean hydrogen production project, an initiative aimed at advancing hydrogen electrolysis technology.

The “1MW-Class Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolysis Stack and Commercial System Development Project,” spearheaded by Ulsan City, has been officially selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy’s (MOTIE) national R&D program. This project, which will run until 2028, is backed by a total investment of KRW 20.8 billion ($15 million) and aims to:

[1] Develop and demonstrate AEM electrolysis systems
[2] Convert byproduct hydrogen into clean hydrogen

Heesung Catalysts will collaborate with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Ulsan Technopark, Acrolabs, Techwin, Korea East-West Power, the Korea Institute of Materials Science, and Korea University to enhance the economic viability and production efficiency of next-generation electrolysis technology.
